Transferring your subscription to a new PDA or phone
New PDA
If you have replaced your PDA, you don't need to reinstall Subscription Manager or your Subscription setup file. You just need to make sure that Subscription Manager is aware of your new PDA and can send data to it.
Open Subscription Manager by double-clicking on the Roundpoint icon in your System Tray (next to the Windows clock).
If you do not wish Subscription Manager to sync with your old PDA, click on each subscription name in turn, and in the dialog box that pops up, click on the list of Target Devices in the bottom left-hand corner to de-select your old PDA.
Stop Subscription Manager.
Check that your new PDA is syncing correctly, using Microsoft ActiveSync or Palm HotSync as appropriate.
Put your PDA in its cradle if you haven't done so already.
Start Subscription Manager by double-clicking on the Roundpoint icon on your desktop, or on the Taskbar, select Start->All Programs->Roundpoint->Subscription Manager.
Open the Subscription Manager window again if it doesn't open automatically.
Your new PDA should now be listed in the left-hand column under 'Target Devices'
If Subscription Manager has failed to detect your new PDA, give your PDA a soft reset, reboot your PC and try Steps 7 and 8 again.
New phone
If you signed up recently to a service which is available on both PDA and WAP, you will have received instructions on how to access the wireless version. If you subscribed before the new emails were sent out, you can still do it, as follows:
When you signed up, you should have received a file called [title].rps with which to set up your subscription. If you have lost this file, please contact customer services to get a replacement.
Open the .rps file in Notepad or a similar text editor.
In the Credentials section, you will see your user ID and password. Make a note of these, perhaps in your phone's memo function for convenience.
Go to our service selection page and scroll down until you see the WAP service you have subscribed to.
The entry should display the correct WAP address for your phone. Key it into your phone's WAP browser.
When the WAP site asks for payment, scroll down until your see a link called "click here to enter your username and password".
Click on the link and enter the details you noted down earlier.
Depending upon your phone's browser, it may be able to retain the login details or an extended period, e.g. for as long as the phone retains power. |
